Ogre 3d temptation

Sigh...
I continually let myself be tempted to go in different directions and pick up new things.  I let my desire to jump into Unity pass, only to see a new one take its place in the form of Ogre 3d.
I was perusing forums looking for optimization hints for Irrlicht when I came across a post written by some guy who knew his shit.  He pointed out that Ogre is clearly a step above Irrlicht, mentioning that it has been used in several commercial and professional applications.
And if you compare the two, there is no doubt that Ogre is more powerful, at the cost of significantly more complexity. Looking at the screenshots and hoards of documentation caused me to salivate and start contemplating how I could switch my project over. Better to do it now before it gets too complex, right?
No, I need to convince myself to stick with it and finish what I've started.  I feel like that's the most important.  The kyuplex philosophy is simplicity!  At least simplicity of appearance, complexity of gameplay and physics.  This is my first game, that is why I chose Irrlicht, because of it's simplicity and shallow learning curve.  The more work I have to do myself, the more I learn, and that is also a primary goal for this project.
If the UDK is for building skyscrapers, then Ogre is for building mansions.  I'm not there yet...
